Mangaluru: Father Muller Homoeopathic Medical College and Hospital (FMHMCH), Deralakatte, inaugurated its Students’ Council for the academic year 2026-27 during a ceremony held at the Father Muller Auditorium on June 24.
The programme marked the formal transition of leadership to the newly elected student representatives and celebrated their commitment to serving the student community.

New office-bearers take charge
The ceremony commenced with a procession of the outgoing and newly elected Students’ Council office-bearers and class representatives. A prayer song led by Ms. Shreya and team invoked God’s blessings for the new council.

Dr. Deepa Pais, Staff Advisor of the Students’ Council, welcomed the gathering and introduced the chief guest, Walter Nandalike, Founder and Editor-in-Chief of Daijiworld.com.
Principal Dr. E.S.J. Prabhu Kiran welcomed the newly elected office-bearers. Outgoing Students’ Council President Zeeshan Haveri formally handed over the college flag to the newly elected President Pooja P., symbolising the transfer of leadership.
The transfer of responsibilities also took place for the newly elected office-bearers: Lingaprasad (Vice-President), Bayya Sheela Joy (General Secretary), Rahul Kumar Basappa K. (Joint Secretary), Yadav Disha Chandrashekar (Magazine Secretary), Sayed Falah Mohiddin (Sports Secretary), Chaitra Thangaraj Shetty (Cultural Secretary), Anilkumar (Research Secretary) and Joanita B. Machado (Media Secretary).
The Principal administered the oath of office and congratulated the new team, wishing them success in their leadership journey.
Leadership founded on service
The Students’ Council was formally inaugurated with the traditional lighting of the lamp by the dignitaries and the newly elected President and General Secretary.
Outgoing council members were felicitated by the chief guest in recognition of their dedicated service.
Delivering the farewell address, outgoing President Zeeshan Haveri reflected on the council’s achievements, while newly elected President Pooja P., in her acceptance speech, said, “Leadership is not being in charge, but taking charge of everyone.”
Rev. Fr. Donald Nilesh Crasta, Administrator of FMHMCH and FMCOPS, congratulated the new council members and appreciated the services rendered by the outgoing team. He encouraged the student leaders to become self-disciplined, compassionate leaders who work for the welfare of the team and face challenges with courage.
Walter Nandalike inspires young leaders
Chief Guest Walter Nandalike congratulated the newly elected Students’ Council and expressed his happiness over the election of the first woman President in the 40-year history of Father Muller Homoeopathic Medical College.

Addressing the students, he said that young people are not merely the leaders of tomorrow but also the leaders of today. He encouraged them to take initiative and make a positive difference without waiting for opportunities.

Highlighting the nobility of the medical profession, he observed that while technology continues to evolve, it can never replace compassion, empathy and the human touch that define quality healthcare.
Director calls for visionary leadership
Rev. Fr. Faustine Lucas Lobo, Director of Father Muller Charitable Institutions, felicitated the chief guest and delivered the presidential address.
Congratulating both the incoming and outgoing council members, he remarked, “A leader is one who knows the way, goes the way and shows the way.”
He urged the student leaders to uphold integrity, communicate effectively, remain guided by strong moral values and work with a clear vision for the betterment of the institution and society.
The vote of thanks was proposed by Bayya Sheela Joy, General Secretary of the Students’ Council. The programme concluded with the Institution Anthem.
