Mangaluru: In a strong display of communal harmony, members of the Hindu community extended their goodwill and solidarity during the Hazrat Asayyed Ismail Waliyullah Bukhari Manjanady Uroos on December 26. Several local Hindu organisations participated in the religious occasion and contributed essential supplies as a gesture of unity and mutual respect.

The participating groups included Nityananda Seva Samiti of Nityananda Nagar, Hanuman Friends Hindupura Asaigoli, Team Asaigoli, Shakti Friends Akashbhavan, Sneha Balaga Mangaluru, Om Shakti Mangaluru, Berke Friends Kudroli, Brars Kolya, and Sai Friends Asaigoli. Members of these groups collectively took part in the programme and actively supported the Uroos celebrations.

A ceremonial procession was organised from Asaigoli Junction to the central Manjanady Juma Masjid. During the procession, participants carried donations consisting of approximately 15 quintals of rice, sugar, vegetables, and other essential items. These offerings were formally handed over to the mosque committee as part of the Uroos rituals.

Gesture aimed at fostering unity

Speaking on the occasion, Sunil Poojari, president of Sai Friends Asaigoli, said the initiative was organised with the intention of strengthening unity and harmony among communities. “We all must come together and jointly make this Uroos programme a success. Our participation reflects the bond we share beyond religious identities,” he said.

Ganesh Asaigoli, another organiser, stated that the offering was a symbol of solidarity and goodwill. “We have extended our support through this contribution. May God bless us to continue living in harmony and mutual respect,” he said.

Participants said such gestures help reinforce long-standing traditions of peaceful coexistence and friendship between communities in the region.

Mosque committee welcomes contribution

Abdul Aziz Mysuru Bava, president of the Manjanady Juma Masjid, expressed happiness over the fulfilment of the promise made by the Hindu community at the start of the Uroos. “When the Uroos began on December 17, our Hindu brothers had assured us that they would offer their support. We are pleased to see them honour that commitment by presenting these contributions today,” he said.

Abdul Aziz Partippadi, representing the mosque committee, said the gesture reflected the spirit of unity, fraternity, and coexistence. He noted that the support shown by the Hindu community symbolised respect towards the Uroos, the mosque committee, and the Muslim community as a whole.

He added that such acts of goodwill strengthen social bonds and serve as an example of communal harmony for future generations.

Large participation from both communities

The event witnessed the presence of several community leaders and residents, highlighting the inclusive nature of the programme. Among those present were Pradeep Asaigoli, Srikant, Ashraf, Shaukat Ali Asaigoli, Praveen Munna, Harish Poojari, K. Manjunath, Vicky Poojari of Mangaluru, Nagaraj Shetty Mani, Preetam Shetty Aladi, Iqbal Baru, and others.

Participants said the smooth conduct of the procession and the warm reception at the mosque reflected the strong relationship shared by people of different faiths in the area.

The participation of Hindu organisations in the Manjanady Uroos once again highlighted the region’s tradition of communal harmony and mutual respect. Community leaders expressed hope that such gestures of solidarity would continue in the future, reinforcing peace, unity, and brotherhood across religious lines.
