Mangaluru: International Nurses Day 2026 was celebrated with great enthusiasm at Father Muller Medical College Hospital on May 12, highlighting the invaluable contribution of nurses in healthcare service.
The celebration was centred around the global theme:
“Our Nurses, Our Future – Empowered Nurses Save Lives”
emphasising the vital role of empowered and dedicated nurses in strengthening healthcare systems and patient care.
Programme begins with prayer and dignitary welcome
The programme commenced with a prayer song followed by the escorting of dignitaries to the dais.

A welcome address was delivered by Sr Dr Dhanya Devasia.
The programme featured the garlanding of the portraits of Rev. Fr Augustus Muller and Florence Nightingale, followed by the ceremonial lighting of the lamp.
Veteran nurse felicitated
A major highlight of the celebration was the felicitation of veteran nurse Mrs. Victoria Dalmeida in recognition of her dedicated and compassionate service in the nursing profession.
She also addressed the gathering and shared her experiences and insights from her nursing journey, inspiring the audience with her commitment to patient care.
FMCON magazine released
During the programme, the FMCON Magazine “Muller Spring” was officially released by the Chief Guest.

Addressing the gathering, Rev. Sr Aileen Mathias appreciated the tireless efforts, compassion, and commitment demonstrated by nurses in healthcare services.
A memento was presented to her as a token of gratitude.

In his presidential address, Rev. Fr Faustine Lucas Lobo encouraged nurses to continue serving society with dedication, compassion, and professionalism.

A cultural programme featuring a video role-play was organised thereafter, followed by a group photograph session and fellowship lunch, making the celebration memorable for all participants.
