Mangaluru: A recent theft at a paying guest (PG) accommodation in Mangalore has led to the loss of two laptops, Rs. 800 in cash, and an ATM card. The incident was reported to the Barke police station after the victims, Mayur Nayka and Charan, discovered the items missing on the morning of August 10.

Mayur Nayka and Charan, both employees at a local company, had returned to their accommodation on the night of August 9 and placed their laptops in separate bags before going to bed. Upon waking at around 8 am the next day, they found their belongings stolen. The combined value of the stolen items is estimated at Rs. 2,11,500.

The victims have lodged an official complaint with the Barke police station. The police are investigating the incident to identify the perpetrators and recover the stolen items. The theft has raised concerns about security in paying guest accommodations in the city.

This theft highlights the growing issue of security in rental and PG accommodations, especially in urban areas where such crimes can disrupt the lives of working professionals. The community and local authorities are calling for enhanced security measures to prevent similar incidents in the future.
