Mangaluru: The Indian Catholic Youth Movement (ICYM) Central Council, Diocese of Mangalore, is organizing ‘Life for Love’, a week-long voluntary blood donation drive under the Red Drop Mangalore initiative. Held from February 7 to 14, this campaign commemorates the feast of St Gonsalo Garcia and Valentine’s Day, promoting love through the gift of life.
Launched in 2016, Red Drop Mangalore has significantly contributed to voluntary blood donation, saving countless lives. The initiative has increased blood donation awareness and provided critical support to those in need. Strengthening its reach, the Red Drop Mangalore app (available on Google Play Store) connects donors with patients, ensuring timely blood supply during emergencies.
This initiative serves as a meaningful way to express care and compassion. Hospitals require a steady blood supply for accident victims, surgical cases, and critically ill patients. The campaign urges people, particularly youth, to donate, as one unit of blood can save multiple lives.
