Mahesh Mahadev Honoured with “Bharat Seva Ratna” National Award

Bengaluru: Chetana Foundation and World Press Book of Records jointly organized “Vande Mataram,” a program honoring achievers from various fields on the occasion of the 78th Independence Day. The event was held yesterday at Kannada Sahitya Parishat, Bengaluru.

During the ceremony, the prestigious “Bharat Seva Ratna” and “Amruta Bharati” Awards were presented to notable figures in Music, Arts, and Culture. Renowned Kannada cinema lyricist Dr. V. Nagendra Prasad presented the awards.

Music Composer Mahesh Mahadev was honored with the “Bharat Seva Ratna” Award for his exceptional contributions to the field of music. Mahadev has made remarkable contributions with music compositions in 14 different languages, including films, non-filmy, Carnatic classical, and Hindustani classical. His work encompasses a wide range of genres, including Carnatic krithis, Hindustani Bandishes, Bhajans, devotional songs, and film songs in Sanskrit, Kannada, and Hindi.

In a statement to the media and press, Mahesh Mahadev expressed his gratitude: “I am indebted to the people of Karnataka for their love and encouragement. I have been working on both Indian and international music projects. This award brings me immense joy and motivates me to continue my efforts. My International Music Album ‘Meera – The Way of the Storm’ has been nominated for International Album of the Year at the ISSA 2024 Awards in Atlanta, USA, this month. Additionally, I have been nominated as International Songwriter of the Year at the Josie Music Awards 2024 in Nashville, Tennessee, USA, next month. I am absolutely delighted to receive the ‘Bharat Seva Ratna’ and grateful to the Kannada Film & Music Industry and the people for their support. My sincere thanks to Chandrashekar for this award.”

The event was graced by playback singer Dr. Priyadarshini, Dr. Shivanna B, and Muraligowda as Guests of Honour. Several prominent poets and lyricists were also in attendance. The program featured multilingual poetry recitals by talented artists from across India.

Chandrashekhar Madalagere announced that this was the 225th program organized by the Chetana Foundation.
