Mangaluru: The Karnataka Government has ordered a transfer of senior police officers, including Western Range Inspector General of Police (IGP) Amit Singh and Mangaluru City Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP) Mithun H.N., in a reshuffle announced on Saturday. The changes are expected to bring new leadership to key police positions in the coastal region.
Amit Singh transferred from Western Range
Amit Singh, who has been serving as the IGP of the Western Range, has been transferred as part of the latest IPS reshuffle. The Western Range is headquartered in Mangaluru and covers important districts of coastal and Malnad Karnataka.
Singh had earlier taken charge of the Western Range as a senior police officer and has overseen policing across the region during his tenure.
The transfer comes at a time when policing in the coastal districts continues to require close attention to law and order, community safety and coordination between district police units.
City DCP Mithun H.N. also moved
Mangaluru City DCP Mithun H.N. has also been transferred. Mithun was appointed as Mangaluru City’s DCP in July 2025 and had been handling responsibilities related to law and order and policing within the city.
His transfer forms part of the wider movement of IPS officers announced by the State Government. The latest order has also been tagged by local reports as part of the Karnataka Police’s IPS transfer exercise.
New leadership expected to take charge
The changes are likely to bring fresh leadership and priorities to both the Western Range and Mangaluru City Police.
The Western Range includes Dakshina Kannada, Udupi, Uttara Kannada and Chikkamagaluru districts, making the post particularly significant for policing across a large and diverse geographical area. Mangaluru City, meanwhile, remains an important commercial and administrative centre along the Karnataka coast.
The latest transfers are expected to be followed by the announcement of the officers who will take charge of the vacant positions.
The reshuffle highlights the Karnataka Government’s continuing practice of periodically moving senior police officers to meet administrative and operational requirements across the State.
