Moodbidri: Days after the shocking machete attack in Bantwal, another weapon-related incident has raised concerns over public safety in Dakshina Kannada after a young man allegedly entered the Moodbidri bus stand carrying a sword and created panic among the public.
According to preliminary reports, the suspect entered a mobile phone shop within the bus stand premises and allegedly threatened the staff and others present by brandishing the weapon while demanding that they hand over a mobile phone.
Public alerts police
The incident triggered panic among shopkeepers, commuters and bystanders, who immediately informed the police.
Police personnel rushed to the spot, detained the suspect and took him into custody for questioning. No injuries were reported in the incident.
Investigation underway
Police said the motive behind the incident is yet to be established and investigations are underway to determine the circumstances leading to the alleged act.
Authorities are also examining whether the accused has any previous criminal record or if the incident was linked to any personal dispute.

The incident comes less than a week after the brutal weapon attack reported in Bantwal, prompting fresh concerns about the recurrence of violent incidents involving dangerous weapons in public places across Dakshina Kannada.
