Mangaluru: The Catholic Church is set to commence the Jubilee Year 2025 of Jesus Christ’s birth with the theme Pilgrims of Hope. Announcing this, Bishop of Mangalore, Peter Paul Saldanha, shared the Christmas message, emphasizing hope, peace, and unity amid challenging times.
Starting Dec 29, the Mangalore diocese will host special programs to mark the Jubilee. Pilgrimage centers will be highlighted as sacred spaces for prayer and reflection, fostering peace and spiritual renewal under the banner of the Cross of Jesus Christ.
“Christmas carries a timeless message of new light breaking through our darkest moments,” the bishop said. He acknowledged the pressing issues of wars, displacement, and societal strife, urging humanity to rise above conflict through love and understanding.
Bishop Saldanha emphasized the inherent dignity of every individual, reminding all that God can be found not only in the manger of Bethlehem but also in the face of every human being. “Let us embrace the treasure of shared humanity, transcend divisions, and act as instruments of healing and hope,” he urged.
The bishop called on everyone to work toward a peaceful and compassionate world, embodying the essence of Christmas through unity, kindness, and enduring hope. By doing so, he said, we bring the blessings of the season into our lives and communities.
