Mangaluru International Airport was once again the target of a bomb threat on November 30, after an email claimed explosives had been planted in the terminal. Sent from an ID named Akram Vaikar around 10 am, the threat triggered an immediate response from CISF personnel and airport staff.
A comprehensive search of the terminal and surrounding areas was conducted, but no suspicious items were discovered. The Bajpe police have registered a case, and an investigation is ongoing.
The email included demands linked to controversial Tamil Nadu cases, calling for the withdrawal of charges against Zafar Sadiq, a notorious drug kingpin, and Kiruthiga Udhayanidhi, a film producer married to Tamil Nadu’s Deputy Chief Minister, Udhayanidhi Stalin. Additionally, it demanded the release of S Maran, leader of the Tamil Nadu Liberation Army (TNLA), currently jailed in Tiruchi Central Prison.
Authorities noted parallels to an October 25 incident, where a similar threat was made targeting hotels in Tirupati. Both threats referenced Zafar Sadiq and Kiruthiga Udhayanidhi, leading investigators to suspect a Tamil Nadu connection.
The repeated threats have raised concerns over security and the motivations behind these demands. Officials continue to track the email sender and assess any links to organized groups.
