Mangaluru: A local bus operator has been sentenced to four months in jail after being found guilty in a cheque bounce case. The 5th JMFC Court delivered the verdict, holding the accused accountable.

Case Background

The convicted individual, Sukanya Shetty, is the wife of Lokesh Shetty, who runs Orange Tours and Travels and Canara Bus. Their office is situated in Citi Plaza, near PVS Circle, Mangaluru.

According to reports, Sukanya had procured fuel on credit for her buses and issued two cheques in February 2020 as payment. However, both cheques bounced, prompting the petrol bunk owner to initiate legal proceedings.

Legal Action & Verdict

Following the complaint, the court examined the case and ruled in favor of the plaintiff, leading to a four-month imprisonment for Sukanya Shetty. The verdict underscores the legal consequences of financial defaults and highlights the importance of honoring financial commitments.
