Mangaluru: Southern Railway has extended the operation of the Mangaluru Central-Chennai Egmore-Mangaluru Central Express Special by four additional trips, providing continued rail connectivity between the two cities through October.
According to a release issued by the Palakkad Division, the extension applies to both services operating between Mangaluru and Chennai. The decision is expected to benefit passengers planning to travel on the route during the extended period.
Mangaluru-Chennai train service extended
Train No. 06126, Mangaluru Central-Chennai Egmore Express Special, which operates every Monday, was earlier scheduled to run until September 29. Southern Railway has now extended its operation until October 26.
With the extension, passengers will have additional opportunities to travel from Mangaluru to Chennai on the special train beyond the previously announced operational period.
The train has been operating as a special service to cater to passenger demand on the route. Its continued operation is expected to provide an additional travel option for people commuting between the coastal Karnataka city and Tamil Nadu’s capital.
Chennai-Mangaluru service continues until October 27
The return service, Train No. 06125, Chennai Egmore-Mangaluru Central Express Special, will also continue for an extended period.
The train operates every Tuesday and was earlier notified to run until September 29. According to the Palakkad Division release, its operation has now been extended until October 27.
The extension of the return service ensures that passengers travelling from Chennai to Mangaluru will also have continued access to the special train during October.
The two services together provide connectivity in both directions, allowing passengers to plan journeys between the destinations without having to depend solely on other trains operating on the route.
Extension offers additional travel option
The Mangaluru-Chennai rail corridor is used by passengers travelling for employment, education, business, family visits and other purposes. Continued operation of the special service is therefore expected to provide some relief to passengers seeking additional travel options during the extended period.
