In Mangaluru, new allegations of financial misconduct have surfaced involving Karthik Bhat, who was previously connected to a murder-suicide case in Pakshikere. Mohammed, a resident of Pakshikere Hosakadu, claims that Karthik, manager of the Subramanya Co-operative Society, misappropriated his gold, amounting to 10 sovereigns.
Mohammed reportedly took a loan of Rs 1.60 lakh two years ago, pledging his gold at a local bank in Pakshikere. Later, he sought additional funds, and Karthik suggested he release the gold from the initial bank and mortgage it at the Subramanya Co-operative Society, where Karthik served as manager. Mohammed followed this advice, released his gold from the original bank, and took a Rs 3.4 lakh loan from Karthik’s bank.
However, due to personal issues, Mohammed did not visit the bank frequently. Following Karthik’s recent suicide, Mohammed grew concerned and inquired with the bank officials, who disclosed that the gold had been released within just four months of being pledged. Mohammed now alleges that Karthik misappropriated and sold the gold for personal gain.
The police have opened an investigation into these allegations as they work to determine the full extent of the alleged irregularities involving Karthik Bhat.
