Mangaluru International Airport has bolstered its security infrastructure by introducing advanced equipment for the Central Industrial Security Force (CISF). The enhancements include a second Bullet Resistant Vehicle (BRV) for the Quick Response Team (QRT) and state-of-the-art Bomb Detection and Disposal Squad (BDDS) tools. Additionally, a Suspect Luggage Containment Vehicle, a Miniature Remote Operated Vehicle, an IR illuminator, and night vision binoculars with a range finder have been provided to the CISF.
To further augment security, the Landside Security team received two electric scooters for patrolling the entry and exit roads of the airport. During a ceremonial handover, Mukesh Nankani, Chief Airport Officer of Mangaluru International Airport, presented a symbolic key for the BRV to Virendra Mohan Joshi, Senior Commandant of CISF and Chief Airport Security Officer, in the presence of Vijit Juyal, Chief Security Officer, AAHL, and the airport leadership team.
“We are committed to ensuring the highest standards of safety and security at Mangaluru International Airport. The deployment of advanced security measures reflects our ongoing dedication to enhancing passenger safety and operational efficiency,” Nankani stated.
This initiative ensures that Mangaluru International Airport complies fully with all BDDS equipment requirements mandated by the Bureau of Civil Aviation Security (BCAS), providing the CISF with the necessary tools to manage airport security effectively. The introduction of these advanced measures underscores the airport’s commitment to maintaining a secure environment for all passengers and staff.
