Mangaluru: Mayor Manoj Kumar, along with Dakshina Kannada MP Capt. Brijesh Chowta, Mangaluru City South MLA D Vedavyas Kamath, and former mayor and corporator Premanand Shetty, inaugurated multiple civic infrastructure projects in Mangaladevi ward on Sunday.

The newly launched developments include a Primary Health Centre (PHC), a veterinary hospital, a residential complex for municipal employees, a modern bus terminal, and a public park. These projects were initiated under Mangaluru Smart City Limited (MSCL) and spearheaded by Premanand Shetty during his tenure as mayor.

With a total investment of ₹5.8 crore, the PHC spans approximately 1,200 sq. meters, featuring allopathy and homeopathy clinics, a physiotherapy center, a dental unit, doctors’ chambers, an examination room, a laboratory, a minor treatment area, a pharmacy, and an injection room on the ground floor. The first floor houses a maternity ward, sterilization room, operation theatre, dialysis unit, and inpatient facility.

The veterinary hospital, covering 240 sq. meters, includes dedicated treatment rooms for domestic animals, an operation theatre, a pharmacy, and a cattle care section.

Additionally, a 110-meter-long and 11-meter-wide bus bay with a 4-meter footpath has been constructed to streamline public transport. A new park has also been developed for community recreation.

Deputy Mayor Bhanumathi PS and former mayor Sudheer Shetty Kannur attended the event. Premanand Shetty confirmed that Father Muller’s homeopathy and allopathy clinics are already operational in the PHC, with physiotherapy and dental services from Srinivas Hospital to begin soon.
