Mangaluru: In a heartbreaking incident, a 28-year-old pregnant woman, Ranjitha Acharya from Karkala in Udupi district, died by suicide at Lady Goshen Hospital in Mangaluru. Ranjitha reportedly jumped from the hospital’s fourth floor after losing her newborn, who passed away on November 3 while receiving treatment in the NICU following a premature delivery via C-section on October 30.
Ranjitha’s family had arrived at the hospital to bring her home as she was scheduled for discharge. However, she suddenly leapt from the rooftop, suffering fatal injuries. She was taken to Wenlock District Hospital, where doctors confirmed her death.
Ranjitha had been transferred to Lady Goshen Hospital on October 28 due to complications during her pregnancy after initially being admitted at a hospital in Karkala.
