Lakshmi Kamath, a resident of Dongerkery, Mangaluru, has earned widespread praise for her courageous act of capturing and safely rescuing a 9-foot-long python found near the cowshed of Balakrishna Nayak’s house. The incident occurred around 9:30 PM on Tuesday, when the massive snake was spotted near Balakrishna’s barn, sparking concern and fear among the locals who quickly gathered at the scene.

The sight of the large python alarmed the residents, and many feared that the snake might slither into a nearby pile of wood, making it even more difficult to capture. Despite the crowd’s presence, no one was willing to take on the risky task of handling the snake. The situation seemed increasingly precarious until Lakshmi Kamath, who lives in the vicinity, bravely stepped forward to confront the challenge.

With remarkable composure, Lakshmi managed to safely capture the python, preventing any potential danger to the residents and livestock in the area. She carefully held the snake, ensuring it was under control until help arrived. Herpetologist Aditya was soon called to the scene to assist. Together, they successfully secured the python into a sack and transported it to a safe location, far from the residential area, where it was released into the wild.

This is not the first time the python has been seen in the area. According to residents, the snake had been spotted near the house multiple times over the past three years. Last year, it was captured by a herpetologist, but this time, Lakshmi acted swiftly before experts could arrive, showcasing her quick thinking and fearless approach.

Balakrishna Nayak and the local community have expressed their deep admiration for Lakshmi’s bravery and quick action, which prevented a potentially dangerous situation from escalating. Her heroic efforts have made her a local hero, and her story serves as an inspiring example of courage and community spirit.
