Mangaluru: Mayor Sudheer Shetty Kannur has directed officials of the Karnataka Urban Development and Coastal Environmental Management Project (KUDCEMP) to promptly restore roads that were dug up for the installation of drinking water pipelines under the Jalasiri 24×7 project. This directive came during a review meeting held on Friday to assess the progress of the drinking water project.
Corporators highlighted concerns about the delays in road restoration, which have been causing significant inconvenience to both pedestrians and motorists. In response, Mayor Shetty emphasized the urgency of restoring these roads to alleviate public disturbances.
During the meeting, officials presented updates on the Jalasiri project. They noted that once pipeline work on Bunts Hostel–PVS Circle road is completed, it will enable a gravity-fed water supply to surrounding areas lacking a proper network. The entire Jalasiri project is expected to be finished by December 2025. Additionally, a proposal has been submitted to the government requesting Rs 60 crore for linking water storage facilities in Panambur, Bendoor, and Padil with the new water treatment plant at Padil.
Deputy Mayor Sunitha and Chief Whip Premanand Shetty were also present at the meeting.
