Mangaluru: In a remarkable display of dedication to duty, a Mangalore Electricity Supply Company (Mescom) lineman swam across an overflowing river to restore power after a snapped electric line disrupted supply in Dhumadka in Bettampadi.
Lineman takes risk to restore power
The electric wire had snapped and fallen into the Seere river, which was flowing with strong currents following the heavy water flow. The incident disrupted electricity supply to the surrounding areas.
Bande Nawaz, a lineman attached to the Bettampadi Mescom office, took up the task of restoring the damaged connection.
Undeterred by the swollen river and its strong currents, Nawaz swam across the waterbody to reach the broken line. He retrieved the wire and worked to reconnect it, helping restore power to the affected areas.
