Mangaluru — In the bustling centre of Pandeshwar, a fluffy white cat named Minchu has become a local icon—and a beloved internet star. Once often seen lounging by the steps of Fiza by Nexus Mall, Minchu now lives in comfort inside a specially made mini-shelter created just for her.
Her journey from street cat to social media sensation happened quickly. Videos of Minchu relaxing in her new cozy home have gained thousands of views and shares, drawing admiration from animal lovers across the city.
“She’s small, but her presence has created a big impact,” said Arvind Shrivastav, senior centre director of the mall. “Providing her a place to stay reflects the heart of our community. These simple acts of kindness show who we truly are.”
A mall staffer shared that Minchu had long been a familiar sight. “People would stop to pet her, take pictures, and offer food. When the rains came and we saw her struggling for shelter, we knew we had to act.”
Among her early admirers was Amulya, now the mall’s brand manager. “Even before working here, she would travel just to feed Minchu,” the staffer said. “Now, she’s thrilled to be part of caring for her.”
Thanks to the team’s efforts, Minchu now receives meals three times a day—morning from mall staff and the rest from her growing number of fans. She’s now more than just a cat; she’s part of the mall’s identity.
