During the Narayana Guru Jayanti celebration at Mangalore University, MLC BK Hariprasad highlighted the crucial role of education that integrates humanitarian values for societal reform. He stated that without such education, meaningful reforms in society are unattainable. Hariprasad expressed concern over the persistence of superstitious beliefs and the barriers of caste and religion that have impeded the nation’s progress. He criticized the tendency to view education merely as a pathway to employment, emphasizing the importance of its broader purpose.
Hariprasad praised Narayana Guru as a philosopher of great stature, comparing him to Buddha and Basavanna. He also acknowledged Savitribai Phule’s foundational role in women’s education and Narayana Guru’s efforts to further this cause. He lauded Narayana Guru’s efforts in unifying society by advocating for equal access to education, irrespective of caste or religion.
