Mangaluru: Mangalore Refinery and Petrochemicals Limited (MRPL) achieved a significant operational milestone with the dispatch of its 1000th petcoke rake (train) from the MRPL MMRT Railway Siding.
The milestone rake was dispatched to JSW Cement, a long-standing customer, highlighting MRPL’s growing strength in logistics efficiency and industrial supply.
Milestone rake flagged off by officials
The 1000th rake was ceremonially flagged off by Shri B.H.V. Prasad, Executive Director (Projects), and Shri Deepak Prabhakar, Executive Director (Marketing).
The event was attended by senior officials including Ms Asha Shetty, Regional Railway Manager of Konkan Railway (Karwar Division), Shri Dileep D. Bhat, Senior Regional Traffic Manager, and Shri Vinanil Tiwari, Chief Procurement Officer of JSW Cement.
Faster turnaround reflects operational efficiency
Speaking on the occasion, Shri B.H.V. Prasad congratulated the MRPL team for achieving the milestone and acknowledged their efforts in strengthening operational performance.
Shri Deepak Prabhakar highlighted a key achievement, noting that the second batch of 500 rakes was completed 40 per cent faster than the first, reflecting improved efficiency, streamlined logistics, and enhanced coordination.
He also expressed gratitude to customers, stakeholders, and partners for their continued trust and support.

Ms Asha Shetty appreciated the strong and growing partnership between Konkan Railway and MRPL, expressing confidence that the collaboration would lead to many more milestones in the future.
Shri Vinanil Tiwari emphasised the long-standing association between JSW Cement and MRPL, acknowledging the refinery’s consistent supply support and reliability.

The event was also attended by several senior officials including Shri G.D. Meena (ATM/MAQ, Konkan Railway), Shri Muruganandam (CGM – Marketing), Shri Nikhil Narayan Singh (GM – Consumer Sales), Shri Gopal Krishna Baliga (GM – Marketing Operations), and Shri Prashantha Hegde M. (Chief Manager – Marketing Operations), along with members of the MRPL Marketing team.
MRPL officials noted that the milestone reflects the organisation’s continued focus on operational excellence, efficient logistics management, and strong customer partnerships.
