MRPL Flags Off First Toluene Parcel, Advances Toward Self-Reliance

Mangaluru: Mangalore Refinery and Petrochemicals Limited (MRPL) reached a key milestone with the dispatch of its first truck parcel of Toluene from the Aromatic Complex at Mangalore Special Economic Zone Limited (MSEZL). Shri Mundkur Shyamprasad Kamath, Managing Director of MRPL, flagged off the shipment in the presence of senior officials.

The event was attended by Nandakumar Velayudhan Pillai, Director (Refinery), BHV Prasad, Executive Director (Projects), B Sudarshan, Executive Director (Refinery), Yogish Nayak S, CFO, and other senior officers, reflecting MRPL’s commitment to advancing India’s chemical production capabilities.

The launch of MRPL’s Toluene production was recently inaugurated by Union Minister for Petroleum and Natural Gas, Hardeep Singh Puri, during his visit to the refinery. Toluene, a key chemical used in various industries, marks an important step in reducing India’s dependence on imports.

This initiative is aligned with the Government of India’s Atmanirbhar Bharat vision, promoting industrial self-reliance and economic development. With this advancement, MRPL continues to strengthen its position as a significant contributor to India’s chemical and energy sectors.
