The New Mangalore Port Authority (NMPA) welcomed the MS Silver Whisper, the first cruise vessel of the season, at Berth No. 4 on Tuesday. The luxury Bahamian-flagged ship arrived from Mumbai with 299 passengers and 296 crew members onboard.
Highlights of the visit:
- Dakshina Kannada Deputy Commissioner Mullai Muhilan M P presented a commemorative plaque to the ship’s captain, symbolizing the region’s hospitality.
- Passengers were treated to a traditional Indian welcome and a Bharatanatyam performance, showcasing the country’s cultural richness.
- Sightseeing included iconic locations like 1000 Pillar Basadi, Kadri Manjunatha Temple, St Aloysius Chapel, and the Artisan Village at Pilikula.
The NMPA ensured smooth operations with state-of-the-art facilities such as immigration counters, customs services, medical screening, transportation, and cultural displays.
In the previous season, nine cruises brought over 5,300 passengers, and the current season is expected to continue through May, enhancing the region’s reputation as a vibrant cruise destination.
