Mangaluru: The Indian Pharmaceutical Association, Dakshina Kannada District local branch, in collaboration with Srinivas College of Pharmacy, celebrated National Pharmacy Week 2024-25 from January 23 to 29 with the theme ‘Think Health, Think Pharmacy.’ The event was held in a blended mode at the Valachil campus.
The function was inaugurated by T.P. Sujith, Deputy Drugs Controller, Mangaluru, who lit the lamp and encouraged student pharmacists to seize opportunities in the profession. He emphasized their role in ensuring the safe and effective use of medicines to improve public health and well-being, calling on them to bring honor and recognition to the profession through service to society.
In his presidential address, Dr. A. Srinivas Rao, Honorable Pro-Chancellor of Srinivas University and Vice President of A. Shama Rao Foundation, Mangaluru, urged the young pharmacists to engage actively in such programs to enhance their extracurricular knowledge and personality.
Arun Kumar Shetty, President of SKDCDA, Mangaluru, lauded the students for choosing the noble profession of pharmacy, highlighting the critical role pharmacists play in healthcare. He advised the budding professionals to deepen their knowledge for the safe and rational use of medicines.
Bharathi N. Rai, a senior community pharmacist at Sri Ganesh Medicals, B.C. Road, was felicitated for her exemplary contributions to community pharmacy. Dr. E.V.S. Subrahmanyam, Professor and Vice President of IPA Mangaluru, read out the citation in her honor.
Dr. A.R. Shabaraya, Program Convener of National Pharmacy Week 2024-25 and Principal of Srinivas College of Pharmacy, Valachil, Mangaluru, outlined the significance of the event and welcomed the guests. The program was anchored by Dr. Padma P. Prabhu and Smitha Rai, with Dr. Viresh K. Chandur delivering the vote of thanks.
