NMAM Institute of Technology: Champions of Beoing National Aeromodeling
The Nitte team from NMAM Institute of Technology, Karkala won the coveted ninth annual Boeing National Aeromodelling Competition on May 3, 2024, in Bengaluru, an exciting display of skill and commitment. 44 finalists from 13 teams advanced to the finals amid a fierce fight involving 855 institutions and 2350 students from all over India. Meghraj M, Sathvik Poojary, and Sanjana S of the Nitte team won the championship and a monetary reward of Rs. 1,00,000.
Ranjith Bhandary, Gagandeep Kayara, and Shreyas’s team took second place and received a cash prize of Rs. 50,000. The third place winner, who received a cash prize of Rs. 30,000, was Shishir D, Samruddha S Aithal, Nishanth Prabhu, Pratheeksha Nayak, NSK Abhiram, Aneesh Prabhu, Nidheesh, and Shalini S Shetty.
Boeing India President Mr. Salil Gupte presented the awards to the teams.
The competition’s zonal rounds took place at IIT Madras, IIT Kanpur, IIT Bombay, and IIT Kharagpur. The final round was held in Bengaluru, where R V College of Engineering welcomed the top 13 teams.
Furthermore, sixty pupils from Shishu Mandir and Building Blocks schools were asked to participate in an educational session off-site during the competition with the aim of fostering awareness, knowledge, and exposure to aviation and aeromodelling. The aircraft company Boeing sponsors the Boeing National Aeromodelling Competition, which is held for students all throughout India in collaboration with IIT Bombay, IIT Kanpur, IIT Kharagpur, IIT Madras, and R.V. College of Engineering.
In 2013, the competition began as a yearly occasion to give students who are passionate about aeronautical engineering and related subjects a national platform. They can showcase their abilities and inventiveness in creating, constructing, and piloting various kinds and sizes of fixed-wing aircraft models during the tournament.
