Mangaluru: A staff nurse at Government Wenlock Hospital was allegedly assaulted by a patient while discharging her duties, following which a case has been registered at the Pandeshwar Police Station.
The victim has been identified as Ramya, a staff nurse attached to the government hospital. The accused, identified as Shashwath E, allegedly obstructed the nurse from carrying out her official responsibilities and physically assaulted her.
Incident took place on June 18
According to the complaint, the incident occurred on the night of June 18 while Ramya was on duty at the hospital.
During the course of her work, the accused allegedly prevented the nurse from performing her duties and subsequently attacked her.
The circumstances that led to the alleged assault are being investigated by the police.
Nurse admitted for treatment
Following the incident, Ramya sustained injuries and was admitted to the hospital as an inpatient for treatment.
The assault on a healthcare worker has raised concerns over the safety and security of medical staff, who often work under challenging circumstances and are required to provide uninterrupted services to patients.

Further legal action will be taken based on the findings of the investigation.
