Puttur: Uppinangady police arrested a man booked under the POCSO Act who had allegedly been evading court proceedings after repeatedly failing to appear before the court.

The accused has been identified as Ramesh, a resident of Kaukrady. A warrant had been issued against him following his continued absence from court during the trial proceedings.

Police track down accused in Nelyadi

Acting on the warrant, Uppinangady police station personnel traced Ramesh to Nelyadi on Thursday, September 10.

Head constable Dayananda and police constable Raviraj were involved in tracking down and arresting the accused.

Police said the arrest was carried out as part of efforts to execute the pending warrant and ensure the accused appeared before the court.

Remanded to judicial custody

Following his arrest, Ramesh was produced before the court. The court subsequently remanded him to judicial custody.

The arrest brings the accused back into the judicial process after he had allegedly remained unavailable for the scheduled court proceedings.
