Bantwal Mla Rajesh Naik Emphasizes Vigilance And Teamwork To Mitigate Rain Related Disasters

Bantwal Taluk officials must remain vigilant to prevent any loss of life due to rain and floods, working cohesively to avoid public complaints, instructed Bantwal MLA Rajesh Naik Ulippadyguthu. During a rain disaster management committee meeting at the SGSY Hall of Bantwal Taluk Panchayat on Thursday, he stressed the importance of accurate reporting by lower-level officials, urging the Tahsildar to review and correct any errors in reports regarding rain damage or other incidents.

“It is inappropriate to halt beneficiary selection or benefits based on hearsay. Officials should not be intimidated by blackmail,” Naik asserted. He also highlighted the need for safety measures for children in poorly maintained Anganwadi centers, suggesting classes be conducted in local government primary schools if necessary. He emphasized the importance of mental and intellectual development through integration, warning that obstructive education department officials should consider setting up Anganwadi centers in their own homes.

Naik also instructed officials to stock up on necessary medications for venomous bites and take stringent measures to prevent the spread of dengue and malaria, maintaining high hygiene standards in the Taluk.

Addressing agricultural damage, Naik noted the recent wind and rain destruction of 2.74 hectares of areca trees and urged support for local farmers. He advised Mescom officials to remove hazardous trees and collaborate with local administrations.

Regarding the Jackwell project, Naik insisted that water supply should prioritize the local Gram Panchayat area and Narikombu villagers before being diverted to Puttur. He also tackled waste disposal issues, instructing the installation of warning signs and CCTV cameras to deter littering and suggesting fines for offenders.

Naik responded to public complaints about marijuana sales near schools and colleges, directing the police to take legal action against offenders. He also scheduled a meeting with KSRTC officials to address issues with government buses for school children and rural bus services.

Finally, Naik instructed action against unauthorized flex banners, emphasizing that even those with his own picture should be removed if provocative, directing strict enforcement by the police and chief officer.
