Mangaluru: Former minister B Ramanath Rai, who was hospitalised after sustaining injuries in a road accident near Sanoor in Karkala on Sunday, was discharged from the hospital on Tuesday evening.
Doctors have advised Rai to take rest at home for 15 days following his discharge.
Car involved in head-on collision
Rai was travelling in a car when it was involved in a head-on collision with a private bus near Sanoor in Karkala.
The former minister sustained injuries in the accident but was reported to be out of danger. He was subsequently admitted to a hospital in Mangaluru for treatment and observation.
His personal assistants Denzil Noronha and Charan, along with the car driver Abhishek, were also travelling with him and sustained injuries in the collision.
Other injured persons recovering
Following the accident, the injured persons were taken for medical treatment.
Except for Denzil Noronha, all the other injured individuals received treatment at Yenepoya Hospital in Mangaluru and have since returned home after recovering.
Rai’s discharge on Tuesday evening marks the latest development in the treatment of those injured in the accident.
Doctors have advised the former minister to continue taking adequate rest for the next 15 days as he recovers from the injuries sustained in the collision.
The accident had occurred on Sunday near Sanoor in Karkala, involving Rai’s vehicle and a private bus. Further details regarding the circumstances of the collision were not immediately available.
