Dr. Na D’Souza, a celebrated Kannada writer and intellectual, passed away at 87 in Mangaluru after a prolonged illness. Known for his versatility in literature and cinema, his works addressed themes of social justice, human rights, and the intricacies of human relationships.

Dr. D’Souza, a Sahitya Akademi Award laureate and president of the 80th Kannada Sahitya Sammelana, left a lasting legacy in Kannada culture. Several of his novels were adapted into acclaimed films, including Kadina Benki, Dweepa, and Baluvali. His innovative contributions to Kannada theatre further enriched the arts.

His mortal remains will be kept for public viewing in Sagara on Monday, with the final rites scheduled for Tuesday. Tributes have poured in from the Karnataka government and cultural organizations, honoring his remarkable legacy.
