Severe Sea Erosion In Ullal One House Washed Away, Three More At Risk

Mangaluru, June 28, 2024: Severe sea erosion at Battapady in Ullal resulted in the washing away of one house by tidal waves on Thursday. The situation is dire as three other houses in the area are also facing imminent danger due to the aggressive erosion.

Fortunately, the family residing in the house that was swept away had been evacuated on June 26, and they were moved to a safer location before the incident. This proactive measure ensured their safety amidst the natural disaster.

On June 27, as a precautionary step, authorities relocated the families living in the three other houses at risk. These residents have also been moved to safer places to avoid potential harm from the escalating sea erosion.

The heavy rains in the region have significantly contributed to the rough sea conditions, with mighty waves relentlessly lashing the shores. This has intensified the erosion process, posing a severe threat to coastal homes and infrastructure.

Local authorities are closely monitoring the situation and are on high alert. Efforts are being made to provide necessary support and rehabilitation to the affected families. The community is urged to stay vigilant and cooperate with safety measures to mitigate further risks.
