Mangaluru: Southern Railway has announced welcome relief for passengers travelling between Nagercoil and Madgaon during the upcoming festive season. To accommodate the increased demand for long-distance travel during Christmas and New Year, special train services will operate between December 24, 2025 and January 7, 2026.
Festive-season travel boost
The introduction of these special services aims to provide smoother travel options for thousands of passengers who typically struggle to secure tickets during the peak holiday period. Railway officials noted that the temporary services would ease congestion across the southern coastal corridor and ensure more comfortable journeys for travellers.

With tourism, interstate travel, and festive movement expected to rise significantly, the special trains are likely to reduce crowding in regular services.
Passengers may visit the official railway enquiry portal for real-time updates and detailed travel information. The railway administration has urged travellers to make use of the special services to ensure a safer and more comfortable journey during the busy holiday season.
