Kadaba: Kadaba police have seized an SUV allegedly involved in a hit-and-run accident that claimed the life of a 42-year-old motorcyclist at Alankaru town on Friday night.

The deceased has been identified as Lokesh (42), a resident of Nadthila in Alankaru village.

According to information available, the SUV allegedly hit Lokesh’s motorcycle from behind while he was travelling towards Acharikottaya in Alankaru town. The impact caused him to fall onto the road, leaving him with serious injuries to his head and limbs.

The vehicle reportedly fled the spot after the collision.

Local youths launch search

Following information that the SUV had escaped towards Uppinangady, local youths in Alankaru alerted people in surrounding areas and began looking out for the vehicle.

People in Athoor, Ramakunja, Koila, Uppinangady, Nelyady and other areas were reportedly alerted about the vehicle and asked to keep a watch for it.

The coordinated effort helped the search teams track the suspected vehicle’s movements.

CCTV footage from a house in Nadugudde subsequently showed the SUV travelling in that direction.

Based on the CCTV footage and information gathered during the search, the vehicle was traced to the yard of a house.

Police seize SUV

Tension reportedly prevailed after the vehicle was located.

Kadaba police immediately reached the spot and brought the situation under control before seizing the SUV for further investigation.

The vehicle is reportedly owned by a local hotel entrepreneur. It is alleged that the owner’s brother was driving the SUV when the accident occurred.

Police are investigating the circumstances of the accident and the events following the collision.

The seizure of the vehicle is expected to help investigators establish the sequence of events and determine who was driving it at the time of the accident.

Motorcyclist dies after accident

Lokesh was travelling towards Acharikottaya when the SUV allegedly struck his motorcycle from behind.

The impact threw him onto the road, causing serious injuries to his head and limbs.

He was immediately shifted to a hospital for treatment. However, his condition remained critical and he died late on Friday night after reportedly failing to respond to treatment.

His death has left his family and relatives in grief.

Lokesh is survived by his wife, son and daughter.

Senior police officials inspect spot

Following the incident, senior police officials visited the location and inspected the scene.

Dakshina Kannada Superintendent of Police Arun Kumar, Additional SP Bhoomareddy, DySP Rohini, Rural police inspector Nagaraj and Kadaba SI Jambooraj Mahajan visited the spot.

The officials examined the circumstances surrounding the accident and the subsequent tracing and seizure of the SUV.

CCTV footage and other available evidence are expected to form part of the investigation into the accident.

Investigation underway

The police are continuing their investigation into the hit-and-run case, including the circumstances in which the SUV allegedly collided with the motorcycle and left the scene.

The tracing of the vehicle followed a coordinated effort by local youths and residents across several areas after information about its suspected escape route was circulated.

The SUV has now been taken into police custody as investigators proceed with the case.
