Mangaluru, May 28: Mohammed Abdul Bashith (17), hailing from Bolar, has been selected to represent India at the Lifesaving World Championship in Australia, scheduled for August 2024.

Bashith, who completed his PUC from Yenepoya College, has been passionate about swimming since the age of 5. He began participating in competitions at 8 years old and has competed in national-level events.

Selected as one of the six participants from the district for the Lifesaving World Championship, Bashith participated in three events during the selection process.

He was coached by Rajesh Bengre, with Rohit and Yashodha Bhandary serving as his lifesaving coaches.
