Gopal, the shop owner, reported that he received the first call four days ago. The caller, speaking in Hindi, claimed to be an officer from the CBI Crime Branch and inquired about Gopal’s son, Krishna Pranam. The impersonator then falsely informed Gopal that his son had been arrested in a drug case along with two others and was being transported to Delhi.

Seizing the opportunity, the scammer suggested a compromise to avoid further legal trouble and demanded money. However, Gopal grew suspicious and refused to pay, stating that he would rather see his son face legal consequences if he had indeed committed a crime. The call was abruptly disconnected.

Relieved to find his son safe and sound, Gopal initially dismissed the incident. However, the scammer persisted and contacted Gopal again after a few days, renewing the extortion attempt. This time, Gopal played along and requested the caller’s PhonePe number. The scammer, identifying himself as Fazal, provided a number with a Pakistani country code, which was later revealed to be fake through Truecaller.
