A devastating accident occurred in Belthangady yesterday evening when Sumalini Jain, aged 63, fell into a well near Seed Farm on Gurudeva College Road. The incident has shocked the local community.
According to reports, Sumalini Jain’s husband was the first to notice her fall into the well. In a swift response, he contacted emergency services for assistance. An ambulance arrived promptly at the scene, accompanied by Jaleel and Alphas Laila, who played a crucial role in the rescue effort. Using ropes, they managed to pull Sumalini Jain out of the well.
Despite their quick action, Sumalini Jain was pronounced dead upon arrival at the Belthangady Taluk Government Hospital. Medical staff confirmed that she had already passed away before reaching the hospital.
The Belthangady Police Station has registered a case regarding the tragic incident, and an investigation is underway to determine the circumstances leading to the fall.
