In a notable development, Udupi district in-charge minister Laxmi Hebbalkar is scheduled to visit the district on June 12, following a prolonged absence that drew substantial criticism from within her party.
Hebbalkar’s absence during the recent election period and her abstention from participating in the election campaign had caused discontent among Udupi Congress workers. Many felt neglected during a crucial time, leading to the initiation of a “Go Back” campaign against her, highlighting the internal discord within the party.
The minister’s visit, set for Wednesday at 12 noon, will include a meeting with district-level officers at the district commissioner office in Manipal. It is perceived as an effort to mend relations, address grievances, and reconnect with local party workers and constituents.
