Mangaluru City South MLA D Vedavyas Kamath has announced a road blockade protest on Saturday at 11 am in front of Mangaluru District Jail, demanding urgent action over a jammer installed inside the prison that has been disrupting mobile connectivity for local residents, businesses, and employees in the vicinity.
Kamath criticized the “unscientific” placement of the jammer, stating that it has been causing major inconvenience for weeks, and despite repeated complaints, officials have offered only empty assurances.
He slammed the Congress-led state government, alleging it remains apathetic to citizens’ issues unless there is public agitation. “People are left with no option but to protest when governance turns a deaf ear,” he said.
The protest aims to pressure the authorities into either relocating or reconfiguring the jammer to eliminate the collateral disruption without compromising prison security.
