Residents of Guttigaru village in Sullia taluk recently came to the aid of a Kerala family who had lost their belongings during a bus journey and was preparing to walk back home. The family from Idukki, Kerala, consisting of a couple and their son, Sibin Juven, had been traveling from Mysuru to Mahe Church when they were robbed of their purse, mobile phones, and luggage. Stranded without money, they managed to reach Subrahmanya but had no resources to continue their journey and decided to walk.
In Guttigaru, they sought help from a local acquaintance but were unable to find them. Witnessing their plight, Sheshappa Naik Halemajalu, a local resident, alerted Chandrashekhar Kadodi, the president of the Amara Taluk Public Charitable Trust, about their situation.
Kadodi coordinated with Fr. Adarsh Joseph, the Bishop of Guttigaru Church, along with Mangala Driving School owner Sattvik Kannadka, Bharat Derumajal, and Sheshappa Naik to collect ₹3,800 for the family’s travel expenses. This generous support enabled the family to board a bus and continue their journey back to Idukki safely.
