Mangaluru: Sumathi Naik, a resident of Karkala, has demanded the immediate arrest and thorough investigation of a suspended Moodbidri Police Inspector, alleging harassment, threats, and misconduct against her and her family. Addressing a press conference, she accused the officer of subjecting her, her nephew, and her son to mental harassment, issuing death threats, defamation, and sexual harassment.

Speaking at the City Press Club, Naik also alleged that a false case had been filed against them with the support of her sister, Prafulla, further intensifying the dispute.

Allegations of harassment and threats

Naik claimed that the inspector misused his authority and position to target her family. According to her, the harassment was not limited to verbal abuse but also included serious threats to their lives, creating fear and distress among family members.

She further alleged that the officer’s actions were deliberate and part of a larger attempt to intimidate and defame them. The accusations include mental harassment, coercion, and behaviour she described as highly inappropriate and unlawful.

Claim of false case with family involvement

During the press interaction, Naik stated that a false case had been registered against her and her family members. She alleged that her sister, Prafulla, played a role in supporting the filing of this case, which she claims was fabricated.

Naik strongly denied all allegations made against her and maintained that she has been wrongfully targeted. She said the dispute has caused deep personal and social strain, and she is determined to fight the matter legally.

Court directive and lack of action

Highlighting developments in the case, Naik said that her nephew had already approached legal authorities seeking justice. Based on the complaint, a court had reportedly directed the police to register a First Information Report (FIR) against the inspector.

However, she expressed dissatisfaction over the lack of progress, alleging that no meaningful action has been taken despite the court’s directive. She questioned the delay and called for accountability from the concerned authorities.

Disputing sister’s statements

Naik also refuted statements made by her sister, Prafulla, during a recent press meet. She claimed that all the assertions made by her sister were false and misleading.

To support her claims, Naik said she is prepared to submit documentary evidence before the authorities. She emphasised that the truth would emerge through a proper and unbiased investigation.

Demand for detailed investigation

As part of her demands, Naik called for a comprehensive probe into the activities of the suspended inspector. She urged authorities to examine his mobile phone records, bank statements, and contacts, including those within his internal communication circles.

Additionally, she sought scrutiny of her sister Prafulla’s mobile phone and financial records, alleging possible links that could shed light on the case.

Naik stressed that only a transparent and detailed investigation would bring clarity and justice in the matter.

Conclusion

The case has taken a contentious turn with serious allegations and counter-allegations emerging from multiple sides. While Naik continues to demand strict action and a fair investigation, the response from authorities and the outcome of the legal process will be closely watched. The matter highlights the complexities involved in disputes where personal, legal, and institutional aspects intersect.
