Mangaluru: Reshel Bretny Fernandes, an ABVP member and Kittur Rani Chennamma State Awardee, is set to launch her latest book on the occasion of National Unity Day (Ekta Divas), observed in India to celebrate the spirit of unity and national integration.
A final-year LLB student at SDM Law College, Mangaluru, Reshel has been actively writing on themes centred on youth leadership, governance, and nation-building. Among her notable works are essays and publications on Bharat @2047 – Role of Youth and Surajya: Good Governance – Wheel of Democracy, where she reflects on the responsibilities of young citizens in shaping a developed India.
The forthcoming book is being launched in alignment with the ideals of Ekta Divas, which commemorates national unity and highlights India’s cultural philosophy of Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam—the concept that the world is one family. Through her writing, Reshel seeks to emphasise the strength of India’s diversity and its role in realising the vision of Viksit Bharat.
Speaking about her literary journey, Reshel noted that her work aims to inspire youth participation in governance, ethical leadership, and civic responsibility. Her writings explore how democratic values, inclusive growth, and responsible citizenship can contribute to India’s progress by 2047.
Reshel has received recognition at both national and international levels for her contributions to writing and public engagement. Among her recent honours is the Deshratna Award 2025 presented at Bharat Mandapam. She has also been conferred the J Maurus Award by the Indian Catholic Press Association in acknowledgment of her literary and social contributions.
Her work and initiatives have drawn appreciation from several public figures. She has reportedly been applauded by the Prime Minister of India, Shri Narendra Modi, along with other ministers and officials, for her efforts in promoting youth engagement and national development through writing.
Reshel has expressed her intention to join the Bharatiya Janata Party in the near future, reflecting her interest in active political participation and public service. She believes that youth involvement in political and social platforms is essential to strengthen democratic institutions and ensure accountable governance.
The upcoming book launch on National Unity Day is expected to bring together students, academicians, and community leaders to celebrate both literary achievement and the spirit of national integration.
