Mangaluru: BJP leaders gathered in protest outside the Karnataka Assembly, criticizing the Congress for failing to arrest those supporting the party MP responsible for the chanting.
The protest occurred at Vidhana Soudha, where MLAs called for immediate action on the matter. Protesters insulted the Congress, calling it a spineless government incapable of delivering justice.
Opposition leader R Ashoka demanded the arrest of those responsible for the slogans. Consequently, Byadgi police arrested Mohmad Shafi Nashipudi, a supporter of Syed Naseer Hussain, who initiated the chanting. The arrest took place on Thursday after voice analysis linked him to the pro-Pakistan slogans, and he was found celebrating at Vidhana Soudha after the Rajya Sabha victory.
Ashoka complained about the lack of action within 24 hours of the incident. Karnataka CM Siddharamaiaha responded, stating the government needed a report from the Forensic Science Laboratory before taking action.
Despite this, BJP MLAs continued their slogans protesting the government’s alleged incapacity. Rajya Sabha member Syed Nasir Hussain denied the accusations, claiming the incident occurred while he was leaving his house. He stated there were people shouting slogans in support of him and the Congress, but no pro-Pakistan slogans.
He suggested the Pakistan slogans might be a result of mischief, urging a thorough inquiry by the police into the person and the motive behind the act.
