Mia le Roux has made history as the first deaf woman to be crowned Miss South Africa. In her acceptance speech, she expressed hope that her victory would inspire those who feel marginalized to pursue their “wildest dreams.”
The competition faced controversy when 23-year-old law student Chidimma Adetshina withdrew just a week before the finals. Adetshina, born in South Africa to a Nigerian father and a Mozambican mother, faced allegations involving her mother’s alleged identity theft, sparking a social media storm and raising questions about her eligibility.
