The Karnataka government’s Shakti scheme, aimed at providing women with free bus travel, has come under scrutiny for alleged misuse by KSRTC conductors. Reports indicate that conductors have been issuing free tickets meant for women to male passengers after collecting full fares.

A group of engineering students traveling from Bedarapura to Chamarajanagar recently raised concerns. They reported that, despite paying their fares, the conductor issued free tickets under the Shakti scheme. When questioned, the conductor claimed he was giving free tickets to other male passengers as well.

Disturbed by this misuse, the students filed a complaint with the traffic controller in Chamarajanagar, calling for strict action and accountability.
