Dr. Shailendra Beldale, MLA for Bidar South, has called on the Central Government to establish an ESI (Employees’ State Insurance) hospital in Bidar, a border district.
On Wednesday, Dr. Beldale met with Union Minister for Labour and Employment, Mansukh Mandaviya, and Minister of State, Shobha Karandlaje, in New Delhi to submit a memorandum regarding this pressing issue.
“The district, bordering Maharashtra and Telangana, has a significant number of workers. Hundreds of small and medium-sized factories in the industrial areas of Kolhar (K) on the outskirts of Bidar and Humnabad employ thousands of individuals. When these workers fall ill, traveling to ESI hospitals in other cities for treatment can be extremely challenging,” Dr. Beldale explained to the ministers.
He added, “Many have tragically lost their lives while being transported for medical care. The cost of transportation is also burdensome for workers who earn modest wages.”
Dr. Beldale emphasized Bidar’s infrastructure advantages, stating: “The district has good rail and national highway connections, as well as an Air Force training center and a civil airport. With the potential for future industrial investment, establishing a well-equipped ESI hospital would safeguard the interests of workers in this border region.”
The MLA reported that the Union Ministers responded positively to his request for an ESI hospital. “They have assured me that they will obtain a feasibility report on establishing the hospital and will take further action,” Dr. Beldale stated.
This initiative aims to address the healthcare needs of the growing industrial workforce in Bidar and improve access to medical services for workers and their families.
