Mangaluru: Dakshina Kannada MP Capt Brijesh Chowta conducted a public grievance session at the MP’s office located within the deputy commissioner’s office complex on Tuesday, where citizens and representatives of various organisations from across the district raised local concerns, developmental issues and public demands for attention.

The grievance hearing programme witnessed participation from members of the public and representatives from different sectors and regions of the district who approached the MP with issues affecting their localities. The interaction provided citizens with an opportunity to directly communicate concerns related to public infrastructure, civic requirements and ongoing developmental activities.

Citizens raise local issues and concerns

During the session, people from different parts of Dakshina Kannada brought several matters to the attention of the MP. The issues raised reportedly included local grievances, civic requirements and matters connected to public welfare and development.

Public grievance meetings often serve as a platform for residents to directly interact with elected representatives and seek intervention on matters that require administrative support or coordination with government departments.

Representatives of organisations also used the opportunity to highlight issues affecting their communities and local areas. Such meetings are generally viewed as an important mechanism through which district-level concerns can be communicated directly to policymakers and public representatives.

Citizens attending the programme reportedly sought quicker responses and resolutions to concerns affecting day-to-day life and local development.

MP directs officials to address issues

After listening to the grievances and demands presented during the public interaction, Capt Brijesh Chowta instructed the concerned department officials to take suitable steps towards resolving the issues raised by citizens.

Officials from relevant departments were asked to examine the matters brought before them and initiate appropriate action wherever necessary. Such instructions are intended to ensure that concerns receive departmental attention and are processed according to administrative procedures.

The intervention by the MP also reflected an effort to facilitate communication between the public and government agencies responsible for addressing district-level issues.

Public grievance sessions frequently act as a bridge between citizens and administrative departments, enabling direct feedback and faster identification of local challenges.

Development-related demands also discussed

Apart from general grievances, citizens also highlighted matters concerning various developmental projects currently underway in the district.

Several appeals reportedly related to ongoing works across different departments, with people seeking attention towards delays, implementation concerns and local requirements associated with development initiatives.

Infrastructure projects, civic amenities and public works continue to remain important areas of discussion in district-level interactions, particularly as communities seek improved services and facilities.

Residents used the public meeting as an opportunity to communicate their expectations regarding the progress and quality of developmental activities taking place in their respective regions.

MP assures action on public appeals

Responding positively to the concerns and requests raised during the interaction, Capt Brijesh Chowta assured citizens that necessary action would be taken regarding the matters brought before him.

The assurance was welcomed by participants who attended the grievance hearing and hoped for timely follow-up on the issues discussed.

Regular interaction between elected representatives and citizens is often regarded as an important aspect of democratic governance, enabling authorities to understand local priorities and emerging concerns directly from the public.

Such meetings also allow officials and policymakers to identify recurring issues across different localities and coordinate responses accordingly.

As Dakshina Kannada continues to witness ongoing development and infrastructure activities, platforms for public participation and grievance redressal are expected to play a role in addressing local concerns and ensuring that public demands receive attention.

The grievance session concluded with expectations among residents that the issues raised during the interaction would be taken forward through appropriate departmental action and follow-up measures.
