In a shocking incident in Bengaluru, former Karnataka DGP Om Prakash was allegedly murdered by his wife, Pallavi Prakash, at their residence in HSR Layout. The 68-year-old retired police officer was found in a pool of blood, bearing multiple stab wounds to his chest and abdomen, reportedly after being blinded with chilli powder and restrained.

Present at the crime scene were his wife, daughter Kruthi Prakash, and another relative. According to officials, Kruthi—believed to have witnessed the attack—is currently in a state of psychological trauma and has been sent for evaluation to NIMHANS. Her ability to testify will be determined based on medical reports.

Pallavi was interrogated for 12 hours and later taken into judicial custody for 14 days, following a complaint filed by their son Karthikesh Prakash. He claimed Pallavi had threatened to kill his father several times and revealed a history of mental illness and domestic violence within the household. He also alleged that both his mother and sister suffered from depression.

Pallavi reportedly confessed during a video call to a neighbor, saying, “I have killed the monster.” Investigations suggest a heated argument over property disputes escalated into the fatal attack.

Authorities are examining disturbing WhatsApp messages from Pallavi, in which she accused her husband of surveillance and attempted poisoning. Early psychiatric evaluations suggest she may be suffering from schizophrenia.
