Mysuru: JD(S) supremo H D Devegowda condemned the move of state government to release water to Tamil Nadu as per the distress formula in case of poor rains and fall in reservoir levels. Taking on Siddaramaiah over the Cauvery river issue, Gowda said that the CM is not ready to accept any opposition, he said.
“The state is affected by the worst drought and there is no enough drinking water. In this situation, how can they realease water? Instead, a team of experts from both the states should visit both the reservoirs and check the water level, as well as crop loss in the state and submit a detailed report to Centre”, he added.
While commenting on Siddaramaiah who has defended the move to release water to Tamil Nadu, Gowda said that CM is not ready to accept opposition as S M Krishna did. That is why water is being released.
When asked about Yedyurappa’s allegations that no report on the drought has been submitted to centre, Gowda said that Yedyurappa should understand that after the team from the Centre made a visit to various places, the state government has submitted a report on the compensation to be paid, he said.
