Chamarajanagara: The Block Education Office (BEO) in Kollegala Town of the District is attracting people for its green beauty.
The office premises was filled with bushes and parthenium a year back. The premises also has offices of Block Resource Persons (BRP) and Cluster Resource Persons (CRP). More than 350 teachers of the Taluk decided to convert it as a garden and they did so by spending Rs. 20 lakh during Covid lockdown.
The premises is now named as Jnanaloka campus. Teachers say that the works for the the garden is not complete yet. They will soon install Buddha, Basava, Dr. Ambedkar, Jyothiba Phule, and Savitriba Phule statues soon as these personalities strived hard to instill knowledge among poor.
The campus also has portraits of national leaders, tourism spots of District and other paintings of various birds and animals.
Speaking to NewsKarnataka, BEO Chandra Patil said that he himself worked in the garden during leisure. The teachers created this garden without wasting time during lockdown, he added.
